At five years old, Alexa was rarely without a pencil in hand or a dog by her side. With one dog, three chinchillas, two snakes, three leopard geckos, and a frog named Mr. Fatty, it’s safe to say Alexa never met an animal she didn’t adopt emotionally.
But dogs were always the constant—and the obsession.
So committed was Alexa (always a full-send creative) to her love of dogs that her mom still recalls her fully “going canine,” spending days at a time pretending to be one.
Her first dog, Duke, a cockapoo with endless expression, became her muse. What began as simple sketches evolved into "Art Dog": a young artist’s pursuit to the bond between people and their dogs. Through him, Alexa discovered what would later define her work: the art
of translating love into line, pigment, and form.
